Rooting JetDroid

Postby darkmoon078 » Fri Nov 19, 2010 3:27 pm

Hallo all,

here is an short tutorial in rooting JetDroid.

First of all you need to turn on Usb debugging on your phone:

Go to Menu > Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging

Thats all you need on the phone side.

Yet we prepare our PC for the ADB connection (atm for windows).

download the android sdk:http://dl.google.com/android/android-sdk_r07-windows.zip

and unzip it to C:\

Now its easier to rename the folder with the sdk to asdk.

make sure your phone is connected by usb.

then we download this compressed folder from this link

http://www.mediafire.com/?nx7xzpup7tirqbx

then we move it's contents to "c:\asdk\tools"

after that we run the windows command and type

Code: Select all
cd c:\asdk\tools
install.bat

after executing some commands you'll notice there is a new application on phone called "superuser"

now download this application from this link

http://www.mediafire.com/?9o0v9wybkab1g3b

and upload it to your phone. after installing it to your phone by astro manager, run it and wait untill it shutdowns the phone.

after returning to JetDroid, download this application which is superuser application from this link

http://www.mediafire.com/?3g9dk352ldq0w30

to make sure your phone rooted download this application "File manager with Terminal" from this link

http://www.mediafire.com/?0xwtcqqbz57qm38

after that download this script http://www.mediafire.com/?na05u0ioc2z5axs

upload it to your phone and run it by previous application and your phone will be mounted.

Hope it will work for you ;)

sorry for bad english :?

ps: in windows it will only mount sdcard coz windows doesn't support ext3 drives, but in linux both drives will be mounted.

Hi,

Okay, an alternative is to connect your Jet to Linux (Ubuntu) and to unzip the attachment into "/system/bin".

Then open a terminal and type

cd /media/JetDroid/system/bin
sudo chmod 7777 osu
sudo chmod 7777 su

note: Assuming that your Jet (with Samsung OS running) is mounted at /media/JetDroid

After this install a terminal emulator in JetDroid and type:
osu

Now you've got root-access.

Best regards - Thijs

Only if you can start it from the terminal-emulator.

When I type
cd /media/Jetdroid/system/bin
chmod 7777 osu
chmod 7777 su

In my ubuntu terminal it says "Operation not permitted" at the end of the last two lines.
Is there an opportunitiy to give me the rights to execute that orders?

Try executing the last two lines using 'sudo' prefix. So for example:
Code: Select all
sudo chmod 7777 osu

Do you have complete path on your system ? which part is missing or mistyped in the script ?
