2. Start your phone and start the app 'z4root'.
3. Click on root and wait till your phone shuts down.
4. Restart and your rooted...

I don't get it. The tut says I should be able to set the USB Debugging to "Allow," but then I couldn't activate that option; it just shuts down. Am I missing something here?

Do you have the latest files? Mine didn't like turning on USB debugging until I got the 0.3pre2 kernel.

oh. okay. Is the 0.3 stable enough? can I have feedback on the kernel released?

EDIT: where do I find the 0.3 pre2 kernel? the one on the installation guide 1.2 has only the pre1 kernel.

I've downloaded the pre3 release, but I've installed only the pre2 first. I just get this feeling that I need to install pre2 first before the pre3. LOL.

Am I right by installing the kernel released using the same method stated in the guide (copy and paste the... etc. in the proper folders)?

Yes, kernel in root, and additional files in their respective folders. Don't forget to set the permissions again, but this isnt necessary if you copy the new files using
Code: Select all
sudo nautilus

Greetz,
Vincent

Before step 2 you have to enable "USB Debugging" --> Settings/Applications/Development/Usb Debugging
Cheers,
Jose
