I downloaded everything from your links and I also tried to download the latest versions from their websites.

What am I doing wrong?

Try older Ubuntu versions... 10.04 is really good and that's newer versions are different and with newer version is harder...

check the tutorials how to change the setting to get Ubuntu to work fine in VirtualBox... (from YouTube)
If this not help then you can install Ubuntu to inside Windows for second OS (4GB or more is good for Ubuntu if you install it to inside windows...

Download link for Ubuntu 10.04 x86 or x64: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/a ... e-download

Thanks for your help, I have installed Ubuntu and VirtualBox on another computer running on Windows XP and now its running perfect.
But now I have a new problem, when I plugin my Jet (14:47 in the video) I get this error:

I tried to reboot multiply times, turn off all other devices and I'm sure that I followed the steps in the video correctly. What to do?

OK! I don't know why you get the USB error...
I have used virtualbox only something 9 times with ubuntu and I didn't have any USB problem...
if you change the settings (USB port settings in VirtualBox..) apply Jet USB Cable with it...
I don't remember how it can to do because I don't remember that....

have you installed NPS to PC? maybe without it you can have some problems with USB!

You have to try it!
I'm not sure but I think that you can use JétDroid on that firmware.

If you can't then flash S8003JPIF4 firmware's boot file(s) back and then you can flash another firmware which is supported by JetQi boot loader.

Hi, sorry I can't right now. I installed win8 into my laptop and for some reason this page is slow on my laptop.
Just flash the firmware through Multi Download program and remember to take away SIM card and also SD-card to make sure that you won't lose any data from SIM or SD card.

a few questions:

1) how do i get the firmware info from my samsung jet? the instructions to do so are missing from the video?

2) do I have to burn ubuntu? can I not mount using UltraISO and load into virtual box that way?

Im a complete noob at this so would be grateful for any other help or advice? - the Jet is my old phone now so no worrys about bricking it (although would prefer not too lol) - I now have a Sony Xperia Miro on contract, but wouldnt mind getting Android on the spare phone as the samsung OS is just horrible.

also, does anyone know if its easy enough to replace the housing/screen..? its scratched to bits..

thanks

Use the "secret codes"
because I have not used my Jét a long time I don't remember the code but it may be this or something like this: #*1234*# You can Google about the secret codes for Jét.

You don't have to burn Unbuntu to CD if you are not going to install it as second OS.
Just select Ubuntu .ISO file from VirtualBox to boot ubuntu from it.
