What is the best type of SDHC card to use?

Postby thom_anderson » Fri Apr 08, 2011 4:29 pm

What according to the tests is the best SDHC card to use? Class wise and Brand wise?
I am finally into the project, and considering daily testing as my priority and contribution to the project. :D

The best type of card SDHC is logically a class 10.

May I ask logically to what? On what grounds is it best to use Class 10, while people report that Class 2 works fine, and Class 4 is slow ?! I am confused right here.

mm, i'm not even sure Jet hardware is capable of class 10 transfer speed. I'm affraid 'logicaly' there isnt much logic to that statement. however, 'Theoreticaly' it could be true.

I use a class 2 4GB SanDisk, and its been working fine. have never had the oppertunity to test faster cards,

Class 2 as you probably know, Is the slowest type that can be sdhc. It is also known that there is alot of variation between different cards rated at the same speed.

As with any type of RAM, the old addage, "you get what you pay for" I think applies here.

Generally with any type of RAM, your paying for Quality control, with modules falling short of spec sometimes ending up being rebranded to budget brands.

There have been instances for instance of sdhc cards either not being reliable at thier rated speed & or not accessing the far range reliably of thier capacity on the larger types.

Would you then recommend lo looking at Class 6 SDHC cards?
:?:
I had an idea that maybe Class 2 cards are the best option for the Jetdroid now, I am afraid that higher transfer rates, like those in Class 4 cards, is what really slowing down the Jetdroid... Although I do not see how two are connected.

Well, I really dont know.

I think there are to many variables atm to say why 1 card might be better than another.

could be a fault with the cards or a fault with JetDroid or Jet hardware.

I guess it will boil down to a reliable way of measuring Read/Write errors from the JetDroid system to really nail down the problem.

All I can say for now is, IMPO just get a class2, decent brand, they're real cheap now anyway.
