Enable kernel and Android logging

Postby Dopi » Thu Nov 18, 2010 3:00 pm

Just in case anyone does not yet know to enable writing down the kernel and Android system logs. Here is how to do it.

1. Kernel log
Make sure your init.rc contains the following service definition
Code: Select all
service klog /system/bin/dd if=/proc/kmsg of=/kernel.log bs=1

I have this definition in line 272 of the file, shortly after the definition of "service adbd".

2. Android log
Add the following lines just at the same location in init.rc (just after "service klog").
Code: Select all
service logcat /system/bin/logcat -r 10000 -f /log.txt
   user root

Now you can enjoy two log files (kernel.log and log.txt) written to you root directory everytime you run JetDroid.
