Trying to port Firefox OS to JetDroid

So, the Firefox OS loos interesting and Galaxy Nexus has Firefox OS that one developer had developed for Galaxy Nexus.. more information: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=1805282

(Also many other Android devices has G2G ROM ported with working WiFi, 3G, etc.)

If Galaxy Nexus can run Firefox OS then why not JetDroid can't? I don't know does ZTE Blade have Firefox OS ported yet.

I have not checked the firefox OS files but maybe I should check them and to make it work if possible, it needs different kernel if not different kernel the other boot file or something like that?

I gonna check the files some day and if they are similar to android files then maybe I can try to port it.. :D

Also Galaxy Nexus has CWM and fastboot flashable firefox OS: (build2).
With these working functions:
WiFi
DATA
3G
Boot

So if somebody want to try port it then try, it might boot and work somehow.. :D

EDIT: Many files are almost same, app folder is missing and it does not have .apk files?

I think it doesn't need any other boot files just init files needs editing and some other files but not zImage..

So IF I gonna try to port is then I am not sure can it even boot because it doesn't work on Galaxy Nexus without flashing userdata.img via fastboot and JetDroid can't use fastboot...

Good idea! I would enjoy having either Aliyun OS or Firefox OS on my phone. ;)

Firefox G2G OS is ported to many phones and it is still beta and it has many files what Android ROMs have but some other files and it doesn't have app folder because it's using HTML5 and other stuff so it does not take so much memory and 600MHz processor + 252 or 278Mb RAM phone should be able to run B2G Firefox OS smoothly so it might be possible to run that OS but I can't make it to work myself because my Jet does not recognize SD cards..

I can dump init files from boot.img and it should run with latest zImage (JetPlatfrom binary 0.5pre1 or KB_JetDroid's audio patch zImage), about 2.6.9 zImage I don't know..

About Aliyun OS I don't know nothing but it looks similar to Firefox B2G OS which can run Android apps via html5 so it might work too.. :P

Later I gonna try to port it by dumping init files and then I check them and then I put them with zImage to .ZIP or to other package file so then JetDroid users can try it if it works, I try to port HTC Dream G1 B2G OS ROM which have data folder too and then it might work.

Here is B2G Firefox OS's init/boot files (should be CDMA) from HTC Dream/sapphire.
B2G boot files.tar.gz

These might work with HTC Dream/sapphire B2G ROM what I am porting to JetDroid right now..

Problem is that B2G is maybe based from Android 4.0.4 ICS what makes harder to get it work so I'm not sure does this work also HTC Dream should be CDMA device and Jet is GSM device so internet making to work is really hard and I don't know can I even get it to work, I should need right ICS libhardware_legacy.so to make WiFi to work but JetDroid does not have ICS binary so I can't make WiFi to work..

When I have finished ROM porting then I need testers so all who want they can test it and then please tell me does it work.

Audio is not possible to get work because I need right ICS's libaudio.so and other ICS audio files..

Here is the B2G ROM: http://code.google.com/p/android-for-je ... 2&can=2&q=

I have edited nothing, I just unpacked boot.img and copied all boot files, I added zImage from JetPlatform Gingerbread 0.5pre1, the zImage should have 3.0.# kernel which works on ICS!
If it's not working then remove all files except the folders and then open the boottest2.ZIP file and extract the files and test again..

Anyone who tested this ROM then please tell me does it work if not then I try one other ROM and I check Kernel compatibility if I remember fine then the Jetplatform 0.5pre1 binary's kernel is 3.0.8 but I'm not sure can 4.0.4 run it because 4.0.2 uses 3.0.8 kernel... :)

Hey! Thank you for your reply, and sorry for long delay.

Yes this does not work, when CM9 works on Jét I'm pretty sure that Jét can run B2G because it's based of ICS 4.0.4 but I just need right files and I have to make more research..

maybe I can port to Jét but I don't know is it worth to try anymore.

I am hijacking this thread as I can't create one myself.

Now that Ubuntu Phone has been announced and shown to be working over an android installation (using its kernel if I understand it correctly), what are the chances of being able to have it alongside jetdroid? Could this other OS give us the functions that we long? (calls etc.)

Ubuntu Phone OS won't work on Jét, and if someone is able to port it which is hardly possible, won't make nothing more to work, because it's using Android's kernel where is the drivers and other stuff...
