Themes for JetDroid, is it possible?

Postby Jose_Paramore » Tue Nov 30, 2010 3:06 pm

Hi, I know that we can install themes for launchers, for example the "Gala S" theme I've installed for Adw launcher.
But I want to know if we can install something like that (sorry the page is in Spanish): http://www.elandroidelibre.com/2009/11/ ... dar-y.html
This modify all the system apps appearance... can we install it on our JetDroid phones? How to do that?
Cheers,
Jose

If its just replacing images of system items then I presume it could be done in the same manner as the theme devs do it.

In some tutorials it talks about turn on the phone in recovery mode... I think we can't do this now, but maybe with an script we should be able to install any theme, isn't it?

If the script is set up to replace the files involved then it may be possible. I don't know how android themeing works though :?

I think they have to start into recovery mode because they don't have access to the filesystems. wa can so we don't need to put it in recovery mode. we normally just can replace the original files. where and wich one? I don't know. maybe juste merge the files.

Unfortunately its unlikely the current configuration of either the platform or the files will have it work straight away...

Hi All,

We do not require recovery mode as that is just a method of updating the phone on 'normal' android devices. We have direct access to the 'system' and therefore this can be done from within ubunu.
Basically you need to 'deodex' the system and then you replace the graphic files for each different part of the system/app with that of the 'theme' you are trying to install, or at least that is what it looks like when I've been looking at other themed systems. I haven't given it much further investigation as I don't believe it to be a high priority and 'deodexing' can have its own problems and therefore it is best to wait until we know we have a 100% stable system before introducing something else that can cause problems.

Cheers,
Kaes
