Riiiight :D:D Never noticed that... so why do we have exactly the same icons burned into the screen? Thats scary :D

not scary, it is that that icons just appear more on the screen than others.

It's because takes more power to generate white on OLED screens and therefore those pixels get burned out (due to use, not the same as burn-in on a CRT). Basically the pixels are slowly starting to fail from heavy use and if you then put a completely whitescreen up you see the 'burned in' image as the pixels can no longer put out full brightness and are dimmer, appearing as a very light grey.

Cheers,

Kaes

EDIT: That's why you should use a dark colour scheme and wallpaper as white drains the battery ALOT faster than darker colours.

No it isn't. I have this "problem" too, but I don't care about this. My problem is that when you put a white background, as I explained above (*#0*#--> Dimming), you can see burned battery icon, sound icon, back icon,...
Cheers,
Jose

Not sure if this could help but with laptops and CRT screens we used to set the brightness or screen temp lower and for the S8000 TouchWiz to go to auto keylock and dim screen a s soon as possible.

This is a Amoled screen or led screen so should not have this burn in problem.
Have you guys tried to flash other firmware to the phone as this might if just a software bug reset or reduce the effect over time.

Mmmh. From what I have heard, (AM)OLED screens do have burn in problems. This is also why the pixels have different sizes as you can see here.
