We should maybe first start with the bootloader. How far did your friend get that started disassembling it with IDA Pro?

Cheers,
Dopi

Dopi, can you tell me exactly what you need, I have two guys who knows about ARM disassembling and they want to help too, but they want to know what you need.

Did you try to disassemble the bootloader? For the Jet there was a first section of 0x800 bytes that was first loaded and executed. More code was loaded from within this section. However, this boot method is very specific to the individual processor. Thus some more documentation on the BCM processor would be handy especially when it comes to questions like "how and where is the initial bootcode loaded?".

yeah, i understand what you say. But, we have a little big problem  The monte bootloader is very very different xD.. I didn't find't anything like the jet-boot. What we have to do?, compile a generic boot? :P

Compiling a generic bootloader is an option but this would remove all possibilities to boot the old software. I would not recommend doing that maybe there is another point at which you can modify the other bootloader or maybe let the processor boot from SD-card. Did you succeed in finding some more documentation on the Broadcom processor?

Yes Dopi, they did found more about the processor, its an ARM1136J-S. Go to the thread on DarkForest and you will see how they got this.

Also, dami391 said he will be off this week and he asked your help now that we have more information.

And IMO, it's better if we get the processor to boot from the SD card, create a generic bootloader will take much more time.

Check this out, there is a smarphone called Garmin-Asus A50 which has the same processor as Monte and it runs Android 1.6 http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/11/garm ... e-you-are/

I got the info here http://www.arm.com/products/processors/ ... =Resources

This is a start. But in order to find out how to boot from SD-card or how to modify the bootloader a more detailed manual of THIS processor (from Broadcom) is needed. This might however be very difficult to get.
