There is a few options, replace the phone with a new or 2nd hand Jet or another model/make.
or
Replace only the busted part, provided you can find the specific part instead of 3 or 4 that is linked to this specific problem and that might be causing it. Yup there is parts on the internet.

Or you can open her up and presume all parts is good but connections is unstable so then you would want to put the motherboard ?? only under a heat lamp same as what they do with the laptop video cards and then this would help the solder on the connections reestablish itself and the phone is good as new.

This connections gone bad or micro fractures in the connections is usually 95% of the time the actual problem.

Heat lamp or (oven at 180F / 90C) about, does the same. Think it needs to be in the oven for about 2 hours.

It might be cheaper to get one of the $50 ??GBP?? send in for repair services to fix it or just get a heatlamp from Maplin or somewhere and do it yourself, obviously with a online guide of how-to.

Hope this helps get you in the right direction to a possible solution.

Thanks MR, will try those things, .....next time.

I took it to bits, cleaned it, reassembled it

and it was still broken for about 10 minutes, ...... then it miraculously came back to life again.

Hmmmm

Is working now and has been for 2 days, so i'm not touching it.

That sounds similar to static buildup same as what you get on routers and cable modems.
With my testing I sometimes remove the battery for at least 30 mins every 2 weeks so maybe that stopped mine from doing the same.
